Small collateral still requires exact identification
The VIN, make, model, year, color and distinguishing accessories should be documented before recovery. Off-road units may not display a conventional license plate, and custom paint or aftermarket parts can change the appearance significantly. Recent photographs, dealer service records and known riding locations may provide useful confirmation.
A trailer used to move the unit is not automatically part of the assignment. Separate ownership and lien information must be clear.
Storage patterns shape the locate
A motorcycle may be inside a garage, storage unit, enclosed trailer or commercial shop. ATVs and UTVs may move between residences, rural land, repair facilities and recreational properties. A stale home address can therefore be less valuable than current employment, service, registration or associate information tied to the collateral.
Skip work should produce focused leads, not a broad collection of unrelated personal data.
Plan transport around condition and security
Keys, steering locks, alarm systems, damage and tire condition can affect loading. The goal is to secure and move the assigned unit without relying on assumptions about whether it starts. Condition photographs and identifying details support the lender’s next decision after recovery.
Boats and personal watercraft are covered on the separate marine repossession page.
